2008 happened
I've done this a few times (forgot to last year) and I always hope it doesn't come across as braggy, I just like to sum up everything I did in a year so I can look back on it later. And, of course, brag.
- I directed or otherwise helped create 30-something videos, including: Neil Saves Christmas 2, Rugrats, Button, School Is For Losers, Slumber Party, Breakfast Buddies, Ben Bernanke, Awakening of the Incorruptible, The Vortex, YouTube User Purge, Bleed With Me Harry, The Prognosis, the Flim Fest 2008 commercial, Hollywood East, the View-Monster commercial, Bigfoot Begins, a bunch of NKOTR videos, a bunch of various videos for hollwoodeasttv.com, and 123456 Pokemon.
- I played 7 Lemon Demon shows, in such exotic locals as Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Hampshire, and Michigan.
- I bought a Panasonic DVX100b video camera.
- I held a YouTube death threat contest and received over 300 entries.
- I scanned a whole Harry Potter coloring book and let Something Awful destroy it.
- I did much Flickring.
- My beloved pet rat Betty passed away. :(
- YOUTUBE MADNESS!
- "The Mysterious Ticking Noise" was nominated for a YouTube Award, which I subsequently won in a landslide!
- YouTube invited me to a mini press tour in New York City.
- I got to visit the Google offices.
- I was on the Fox News channel, where I was glossed over by Shepard Smith.
- And Good Morning America, which was somehow just as condescending.
- I met Tay Zonday, who honored me with an ancient dagger made by his ancestors.
- I also met Felicia Day, who honored me with a Tay Zonday.
- I was featured by local news (Boston's Fox and NBC affiliates) who were both incredibly nice.
- I became a YouTube Partner, which means I earn money for doing nothing.
- I posted a ten minute long video of myself sexually molesting the trophy.
- Weezer requested that the Potter Puppet Pals appear in their music video for "Pork'n'Beans". They had me FedEx the puppets to California, but they didn't arrive in time for the shoot! We played much phone tag and managed to track the puppets down in a FedEx warehouse in Tennessee, and got them sent back to us. Meanwhile, the music video people created their own naked Dumbledore puppet, which can be seen incredibly briefly in the background of one shot in the video. Whoo?
- Lemon Demon was invited to play at ROFLcon, an "internet culture" convention in Boston. We played and had a good time. I met Tron Guy, who honored me with a mystical kiss.
- I redesigned Lemondemon.com and relaunched the forums, which had been dead.
- I RELEASED VIEW-MONSTER, MY GREATEST CD YET.
- I met Josh Bethoney and Rich Kearney, two cool important guys working for Plymouth Rock Studios, a film studio set to be built in Plymouth, MA.
- Me and my friends Ryan Murphy and Kevin James created Hollywood East!, a video to promote the studio, and went on to continue doing so as the New Kids on the Rock.
- I HAD LEMONIC DEMONADE '08, MY GREATEST LEMON DEMON SHOW/PARTY/MEETUP YET.
- I turned 22 years old.
- I met Ming Doyle, who is now my wonderful girlfriend.
- I started working at the Plymouth Rock Studios offices, making miscellaneous videos for their website. My first real job ever!
- I was flamed to death in the Something Awful subforum Helldump, where the forums' most successful goons lambasted everything I hold dear, which hurt me terribly so.
- Lemon Demon played at Youmacon in Michigan for the second time, where I met the actors who played Zack and Bulk from Power Rangers, who honored me with jars of organic honey.
- I helped Barack Obama win the Presidency by donating, and dancing.
- I sold over 900 CDs through cdfreedom.com.
- I think the only concerts I went to that I wasn't a part of were Jonathan Coulton shows. Well, he's cool.
- I didn't go on Second Life once.
- My older sister Leah is going to be having her third baby next year. This is exciting, because she makes fine quality children.
- I got a theremin for Christmas.
I have a ton of people to thank for helping make this the best year I've ever had. Thank you, ton of people. :)
